Southwark Register Office: A Wedding Venue in London

I first photographed at Southwark Register office for Tony and Leo’s Civil Partnership and then for the wedding of Rachel and Andy. Although located just off the busy Peckham Road in Peckham, the building is almost secluded by trees on the cobbled forecourt. The building itself is Grade II listed being originally built as a terraced house in the 1790′s.

I always make a point of introducing myself to the wedding or civil partnership official and was happy to find that photography is actively encouraged at Southwark Register Office. As long as the photographer does not get in the way, they are happy for photographs to be taken from wherever the photographer pleases. Obviously I am always discrete and respect the special occasion but it is so nice to be given no specific ‘rules’ to follow. For this reason alone, it is worth recommending Southwark Register Office as a very special venue for your small wedding, civil partnership or same-sex wedding ceremony.

The ceremony room is well-appointed with it’s wooden floors and panelling and will hold around 25 family and friends. The registrars sit with their backs to a bow window, meaning that the soft window light can spill through onto the faces of bride and groom and wedding guests…
